Gown madness

I love love love evening gowns. The fact that wedding dress is worn ONLY once in a lifetime, and that wear once in a lifetime gown would be immortalized in pictures that would be viewed by my kids and grandkids, does put a lot of pressure and stress.

I did say before that I went through sleepless nights because of this, its a bit crazy but true. I had initially wanted an international designer gown, but I realized that in the midst of choosing the gown, I got more stresses because I couldn't find the one and time is running out. In the end I decided to have a friend designer custom design one for me. Stress #1 gone and I'm happy.

Confessions of a Bridezilla

Months of preparation were gone in a day. Somehow the day just passed and it seemed I had many out-of-the-body experiences, especially when I was on stage doing mass hand shakes.

I wish I could change certain things of my wedding that took place months ago (in Jan), such as my make-up and hair, dress, wedding cake, decoration and the list goes on.

I was one of the Bridezillas that I was warned about.
I went through so many details that I drove my husband and myself nuts.

I just wish I could have done things simpler; it would have been great if I found the joy of blogging ahead of my wedding instead of after. There are so many inspirational blogs for the discerning brides!

Our morning ceremony was mostly Chinese rituals, with serving tea to our family and receiving red pocket meant to be saved for our future.

The wedding theme was Korean palace with lots of cherry blossoms imported from China and color is gold. The first part of the night reception, all of the girls in the family wore gold then we all changed to Korean costume for the second part of the wedding. I think the part of the Korean procession was most interesting.

I always find Barbie to be fascinating especially collectors' and designers' Barbie. I think they make good collectors' items but only if you have a place to display them. Sad to say, our old Barbie collectors' are still in their boxes collecting dust...they hardly see daylight.

But these Barbie brides are so glamorous! I would really love to have them in my dust-collector cabinet! Daylight or no daylight, they will be gazed adoringly by me and some others who chance on them in my cabinet.

My favorite bride is Carolina Herrera, favorite designer and the Barbie looks positively sleek and elegant.

Which designer Barbie Bride do you like?

Soup For Bridezillas

Definition: a bride-to-be who focuses so much on the event that she becomes difficult and obnoxious
Webster's New Millennium™ Dictionary of English, Preview Edition (v 0.9.7)

I love attending weddings and my husband has a hard time understanding why so. In weddings, that’s when I get to wear pretty dresses, catch up with old friends and check out reception decorations.

There were some weddings that I took down notes and had wished I could do something similar for my own wedding. I had heard of the term Bridezilla from a friend, whom her herself was one, but I had never imagined myself to be so difficult and over meticulous on wedding preparations. My husband had actually bought me Soup for the Bride’s Soul” a year before our wedding! I had read about other brides stories and told myself to go easy on my own wedding.

Every girl (who wished to be married, that is) always has a mind on what they think is the wedding for themselves.. That is not the case for me. True, I had scoured magazines, from local, to foreign magazines, that I don’t comprehend the languages, to pull out wedding ideas, spent sleepless nights and working hours on internet for choosing themes, wedding dresses, invitations and others.

However, up to today, there are certain things that I wish I could change, such as, the wedding dress, flower bouquet, guest list
I just realized, months after the wedding, I may have just the perfect wedding for myself.

The excitement

The Proposal
2007 is the markstone of my love life. First, the sweet proposal from my to be husband. He proposed in April 2007 through a red ipod. He knew that I've always wanted the red ipod and he gave it as gift engraved with the proposal behind it. I'm so loving him for it! It was the perfect gift that became the perfect proposal for me.

The Preparation
Ever since that day, I have been flipping through several bridal magazines and surfing sites for inspirations. I am almost to the brink of madness in search for the gown, there are so many beautiful gowns that made me go sleepless at nights. I am fearing for the bridezillia syndrome. Fortunately for me, I have lots of women in my family who have gone through the stages of wedding preparation. All of them share a piece of their experiences and advises with me. One of them would be my sister, Lingz, who got married 6 months ago. She is the person whom I would credit for the existence of this blog. She and I would be sharing on this blog, the details of our journey for the perfect wedding.
